Master's Degree in Engineering and Technology Management (ETM)

  • Giriş gereklilikleri The major target population of the ETM program is the full time working engineers with at least two years of experience. Even though prior work experience is highly recommended, recent engineering graduates who intend to start work immediately after graduation may also apply for this program. 40 graduate students are planned to be selected annually for the ETM program.
  • Program tanımları ETM program aims to prepare competent leaders in today's sophisticated high technology enterprises in manufacturing, government or industrial service sectors of our global economy with a commitment for the environment, quality and ethics. Technology driven companies have to integrate the system viewpoint and cope with the rapidly changing markets to ensure their survival in global competition. In such a continuously changing business environment, engineers also need to strengthen their technical and managerial skills throughout their careers.

ETM program intends to educate engineers for the leading roles in management of the high technology enterprises. Graduates are expected to gain competence in designing, implementing, operating and optimizing high technology systems as well as strengthening their ability to work as a team, their written and oral communication skills, and also improve their system integration perspectives.

    ACADEMIC CURRICULUM

Students receive a master’s degree upon successful completion of the ETM graduate program. The program is structured as three-credit ten courses combined with a graduation project equivalent to 4 credits workload. Four of these courses are core courses. The elective courses are pooled into two groups. The first group is composed of mostly management courses and the second group includes engineering technology-oriented courses. Each candidate has to take at least three courses from each group. There is an additional compulsory one credit communication skills course. The course work and the project add up to 35 credits in total. The program can be completed in three semesters with regular workload.

Courses are mostly offered by the faculty members of the School of Engineering which is composed of six Engineering Departments, all accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). Students may select their technical elective courses to specialize in such areas as Construction Management, Information Technology, Quality Engineering and the other areas of interest with the guidance of their academic advisor. The faculty members of the Management Department also offer some elective courses within the ETM program.
